Todd Cody Jenkins, 31, Vero Beach

Todd Cody Jenkins, 31, died April 29, 2010, in Gainesville.

He was born in Vero Beach and was a lifelong resident. He was a carpenter.

Survivors include his parents, Cody L. and Tracey T. Jenkins of Vero Beach; brother, Tate Jenkins of Vero Beach; and grandparents, William H. and R. Jean Holzinger of Pipestem, W.Va., and James E. Taylor of Okeechobee.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. May 2 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce. Burial will follow.

Arrangements are by Yates Funeral Home & Crematory, Fort Pierce Chapel. A guest book may be signed at yatesfuneralhome.com.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. "He was well-liked by teammates and was extremely coachable. His coaches and teammates are taking it pretty hard," Sebastian River High School Athletic Director Jessica Upchurch said. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
