Volunteers needed for Spoil Island cleanup set for May 8 in Sebastian

SEBASTIAN — The Natural Resources Board will be conducting a spoil island cleanup on IR-1 on Saturday, May 8.

“We need boat volunteers to assist with bringing the trash back to the mainland,” said Margie Reynolds, environmental specialist for the City of Sebastian. Those who would like to help are asked to contact Reynolds by May 4 to make sure there are enough kayaks and boats for the project.

Volunteers will meet at the Main Street Boat ramp at 9 a.m., departing at 9:30 p.m. They should plan to pack a lunch as there will be a picnic on the island once the work is done, around Noon.

To volunteer or to get more information, contact Margie Reynolds by calling (772) 388-8212.
