Gerald Franklin Meeks, 63, Vero Beach

Gerald Franklin Meeks, 63, died April 14, 2010, at VNA Hospice Hous in Vero Beach. He was a lifetime resident of Vero Beach and was employed by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 323, and worked locally at the St. Lucie County Nuclear Power Plant.

He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He topped out of the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee in 1974 and was a member of Local 323 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He graduated from Vero Beach High School.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Stokes Meeks of Vero Beach; daughter, Sharlyn Meeks of Montreal; sisters, Lavelle Graham of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Betty Tomerlin of Ridgeway, S.C.; brothers, Ron E. Meeks of Carlsbad, N.M., Johnny Meeks of Vero Beach, Lamar Meeks of Fort Pierce, Edgar Meeks of Hernando, Charles Meeks of Centerville, Va., and Austin Meeks of Vero Beach; and a grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bo Meeks; and parents, Alvin and Gustava Meeks. S
