Treasure Coast Youth Symphony final season concert

VERO BEACH — The Treasure Coast Youth Symphony concludes its 2009-2010 Season in Vero Beach at 7 p.m. Monday, April 19 with a concert featuring music from Russia and the winners of its annual Concerto Competition at the Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts.  The program includes Rimsky Korsakov’s tone poem Sadko and Tchaikovsky’s immortal Fifth Symphony.

The orchestra’s 2010 Concerto Competition winners: cellist Kathryn Adams and flutist William Li.  Kathryn will perform Camille Saint-Saens’ Cello Concerto and William will perform Cecile Chaminade’s Flute Concerto.

The engaging performances and individual virtuosity of the young musicians of the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony continue to generate greater and greater excitement and attendance enabling the orchestra to provide music scholarships to some of its outstanding young musicians.  From performance revenues, a grant from Women Supporting the Arts and the Arts Foundation of Martin County, and the generosity of a number of private donors, the orchestra awarded nearly $10,000 in scholarships at the end of last season.  Scholarships are used by orchestra members to continue music education during summer music programs, to enter a college level musical curriculum in the fall, to obtain private lessons from professionals, or to assist in the purchase of quality musical instruments.

The Treasure Coast Youth Symphony is an all volunteer, non-profit organization and is composed of the most talented student musicians from Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and northern Palm Beach counties.  The conductors of the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony are Dr. John Enyart (founder), Mr. Ben Enyart and Mr. Thomas Servinsky.
