Rita (McNamara) Nagy, 88, former Vero Beach winter resident

Rita (McNamara) Nagy, 88, died March 20, 2010, at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Mass.

She was born in Hartford, Conn., and lived in Southwick, Mass., Simsbury, Conn. and formerly a winter resident of Vero Beach.

She was a graduate of Hall High School and was a former member of Blandford Country Club in Blandford, Mass., and Hopmeadow Country Club of Simsbury.

She also was a long time volunteer at Noble Hospital of Westfield and a communicant of Our Lady of the Lake Church of Southwick, Mass. and a former communicant of St. Mary’s Church and its Rosary Guild of Simsbury, Conn.

Survivors include her sons, John Nagy of Tariffville, Conn., Raymond J. Nagy Jr. of North Granby, Conn., David Nagy of Simsbury, Conn.; daughters, Catherine Shumard of Phoenix, Ariz., Janet Hanley of Milton, Mass., Mary T. Nagy of West Hartford, Conn.; sister, Angeline McCarthy of Michigan; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Nagy Sr. and her sister, Sr. Rose Irmine McNamara.

Her funeral will be at 9 a.m. March 25 from the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, Granby, Conn., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Southwick, Mass. with burial to follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Tariffville, Conn.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
