Fellsmere woman arrested for forging roommate’s checks

FELLSMERE — A Fellsmere woman is accused of stealing checks from her roommate and forging them to local businesses at least six times between January and February this year, including Giuseppe’s Pizzeria and Fellsmere Chevron Food Mart.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrested Tamika Lecrencha Lauhon, 36, of 138th Street, on March 18. She is being held at the county jail on $15,000 bond. Lauhon faces felony charges of forgery, uttering a forged bill and communication fraud of $300 or more, according to her arrest report.

The check amounts ranged from $15.50 to Publix to $150 to the Fellsmere Chevron. One check was made out to herself for $50 with “Meds” printed in the memo section of the check, according to the warrant affidavit.

In all, Lauhon is accused of forging more than $385 worth of stolen checks, the affidavit states.
