Bernice Gruen Francis, 87, died March 19, 2010, at Indian River Estates Medical Center.
She was born in Dawson, Pa., and lived in Vero Beach since 1986, coming from Wappingers Falls, N.Y.
She earned a liberal arts degree from Dutchess Community College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She spent four years as a stenographer at the U.S. Bureau of Mines, Pittsburgh.
She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach and a former member of Fishkill Methodist Church, Fishkill, N.Y.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Stanley Francis of Vero Beach; sons, Gary Francis of Canandaigua, N.Y., and John Francis of Lodi, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, S. Scott Francis; brother, John Gruen; and sister, Dorothy Peterman.
