Virginia J. Thorne died March 16, 2010, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and lived in Vero Beach since 1981, coming from Long Island, N.Y. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, St. Helen Church Council of Catholic Women and Florida Irish American Society.
She was a certified braillist by the Smithsonian Institute.
Survivors include her sons, Peter A. Thorne and Thomas A. Thorne, both of Long Island, N.Y., grandson, Peter Thorne; and great-granddaughter, Emily Rose Thorne, both of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas N. Thorne.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. March 18 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. March 19 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
