Relay for Life team selling chances for $700 travel voucher

VERO BEACH — The Continental Group, 2043 14th Avenue and Treasure Coast Travel Agency, 2046 Treasure Coast Plaza Suite B. have teamed up to raise money for Relay for Life of Indian River County.  Relay team captain Jenee Simons at The Continental Group, (772) 562-9031 and travel agent Brenda LaMarca of Treasure Coast Travel Agency, (772) 567-4388 are offering chances to win a $700 travel voucher, good for any means of travel (Cruise, Airfare, Hotels, etc.).

Purchase a chance at either office; $10 for one, or $50 for six.  The drawing will be held at the closing ceremonies of the Indian River County Relay for Life Event on April 24 at the Citrus Bowl across from Vero Beach High School.

You need not be present to win.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." The Vero Beach Lifeguard Association recently released its monthly report for the beaches at Jaycee Park, Humiston Park and South Beach Park. Community Development Department closes in-person services

The Community Development Department closed in-person services Monday as county officials implement more health precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Officials plan to add more physical barriers to the front counters inside the building, which already has temperature scanners installed. County employees and those who visit county facilities are already required to wear masks inside. County Administrator Jason Brown was not immediately available to confirm reports that six employees in the Community Development Department tested positive for the virus.
