Two with local connections make Forbes’ list of billionaires

Of the world’s 937 billionaires identified by Forbes Magazine, at least two have Vero Beach connections.Coming in at No. 488 on the list is Blackstone Group founder Peter Peterson with a net worth according to the magazine of $2 billion. Although he lists his home as New York, Peterson owns a beachfront residence in Windsor valued by the county at $3.7 million.

Also on the list at No. 536 is 92-year-old Albert Ueltschi, who started the FlightSafety pilot training schools. The magazine lists his hometown as Vero Beach and his net worth at $1.9 billion.In all, Florida is listed as the home of 25 billionaires led by 95-year-old businessman John Kluge, who was No. 109 on the list with a net worth of $6.5 billion despite seeing some of his investments hit the skids in 2008. Last on the list of billionaire Floridians is real estate mogul Dwight Schar with a net worth of an even billion dollars.The world’s richest man at $53.5 billion is Mexican businessman Carlos Slim, followed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates with a net worth of $53 billion.
