Elinor Charron (Chari) Boye Moloney, 69, formerly of Vero Beach

Elinor Charron (Chari) Boye Moloney, formerly of Vero Beach, died on Jan. 31 in Walnut Creek, Calif.

She moved to Walnut Creek three years ago and married former Vero Beach resident, Herbert Moloney, who survives her. Also surviving are her brother, Bill Boye, of Flowery Branch, Ga. and her dear friend and confidant for 49 years, Mattie Armstrong of Fort Pierce.

Chari and brother Bill moved to Vero Beach as children. Their parents, Frederic William “Bunny” Boye and Elinor Avery “Tookie” Boye were active in the business and civic community.

She graduated Salutatorian from the Graham-Eckes School in Palm Beach, graduated with honors from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and was selected as a part of the American Express contingent at the New York World’s Fair in 1964-65.

Once back in Vero Beach, Chari contributed to the success of many special events and service organizations. She was chairwoman of the Florida Chapter of the American Heart Association for many years, and also was chair of the Christmas House for a number of years.

She was chairman of the Indian River Medical Center’s May Pops at Windsor concerts, and headed a number of popular events for the Medical Center Foundation, and also for the Vero Beach Museum of Art.

A celebration of her life is being planned as a private affair around what would have been her 70th birthday on April 10.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Vero Beach, P.O. Box 644, Vero Beach, FL. 32961-0644.
