Navy League involved in Operation Paperback

The Treasure Coast Council of the Navy League, along with the Indian River Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, has become heavily involved in Operation Paperback. They have shipped over 2200 paperback books since April 2009 to deployed military personnel, primarily in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait.

Operation Paperback began in 1999 by sending books to troops in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. To date, 950,000 plus paperback books have been shipped to over 30 countries in addition to providing books to wounded troops and veterans here at home. Military personnel deployed overseas are eligible to receive shipments of books, completely free of charge. Over 7500 individuals, community organizations and businesses from every state in the Nation form the volunteer shipper network.
