Edward J. Steward, 81, passed away on Feb. 23, 2010.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on Oct. 13, 1928 and lived in Queens, the Bronx and Yonkers, NY before retiring to Grand Harbor in Vero Beach.

He was the only child of John and Stella Steward. After attending school he started working at The American Tobacco Company in New York City where he met his beloved wife of 60 years, Barbara.

After army service, Ed went into construction. He developed award winning condominiums and single family homes in Yonkers and New Rochelle, NY.

After settling at Grand Harbor, Ed worked tirelessly to make sure the residents of Grand Harbor were represented fairly. He met with senators and congressmen when the Resolution Trust took over Grand Harbor in its early days to make sure the Grand Harbor stayed in one piece. Through his efforts residents did not lose their investments.

He was an avid golfer and founded the Grand Harbor Men’s 9-Hole Association.

He was surrounded by his wife Barbara, daughter Laura, son-in-law Jerome and friends when he passed after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
