Donald Stewart Baker, 71, Sebastian

Donald Stewart Baker, 71, died Feb. 28, 2010, at Sebastian River Medical Center.

He was born in West Haven, Conn., and lived in Sebastian for 30 years, coming from Wabeno, Wis. He was a Navy veteran, serving in World War II.

He retired as a master chief petty officer. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Barefoot Bay, where he was an usher and volunteer.

He was a member of American Legion Post 189 in Sebastian, Fleet Reserve Association 366 in Melbourne and the Sebastian Golf Course.

He was a volunteer for Sebastian River Medical Center Auxilliary, and ambulatory services in Sebastian and Fellsmere.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Arlene Baker of Sebastian; daughter, Christine Katao of Waipahu, Hawaii; sons, Robert Baker of Milwaukee and James Baker of Peshtigo, Wis.; brother, George Baker of Sebastian; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Willis.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. March 4 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Barefoot Bay, with a service at 10 a.m. Internment will be at 2:30 p.m. March 4 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce.
