School bus crashes into 2 poles in Sebastian River Landing, no injuries

SEBASTIAN — An Indian River County school bus has reportedly crashed into two poles within the Sebastian River Landing community in Sebastian, police dispatchers said, shortly after 4 p.m. Monday.

No injuries were reported. The bus was not carrying any students at the time.

The Sebastian Police Department is responding to the scene.

Authorities said there were road blocks in the area of the crash. The collision occurred near the entrance to the neighborhood at Stony Point Drive.

Drivers in the area should use caution.

Clearwater police ID victims in Thursday fatal plane crash

CLEARWATER — Police identified a Melbourne Beach man as the pilot of a plane that experienced an engine failure before crashing into a mobile home unit late Thursday, killing three people. The impact killed the man along with two women who were in the residence. Officers also released the identities of the women. The Beechcraft Bonanza V35 aircraft took off from Vero Beach Regional Airport and crashed in Clearwater, aviation officials said. Clearwater police identified the pilot as 54-year-old Jemin Patel. Man walking on tracks struck by Brightline in Indian River County

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A man walking on the railroad tracks was struck and killed by a 110-mph northbound Brightline train late Monday, sheriff's officials said. This is the first fatality involving Brightline to occur in Indian River County, sheriff's spokesperson Sgt. Kevin Jaworski said. "At 9:59 p.m., a conductor with Brightline called into 911 stating that the train struck a pedestrian trespassing on the tracks," Jaworski said. Sheriff's officials identified the man as 29-year-old Wesley Alan Ducheneaux. The crash occurred directly east of the 1800 block of Old Dixie Highway Southwest in south county.
