2 dead in plane crash that departed from Vero Beach

A single-engine Piper Malibu which took off from Vero Beach Airport crashed Sunday evening into a home in a development for aviation enthusiasts near Belleville, Ill., killing two people on board. The plane, which was en route to St. Louis Downtown Airport, crashed about 6:30 p.m. local time in a light rain, according to the Web site kdsk.com The St. Clair County coroner has identifed the two victims as Donald Estell and Robert Clarkson, of Cahokia, Ill. The plane was owned by Bigham Capitol Markets of Clayton, Missouri, the Web site reported. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
