Treasure Coast Human Resource Assoc. inducts 2010 officers

VERO BEACH — On Thursday, January 28 the Treasure Coast Human Resource Association inducted their officers for 2010: Bill Usher, President; Laurie Collings, Vice President;  Becky Withstandley, President Elect; Cynthia Stalheber, Secretary, Michelle Bollinger, Special Projects Committee Chair and Debra Porche, Treasurer.

The Treasure Coast Human Resource Association provides monthly meetings where members and guests receive and share important information, including HR legislative updates and speakers who present human resource related topics.  Other events throughout the year include the Tri-County Conference and 1/2 Day Seminar.  Reservation-required, meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at Culinary Capers in Vero Beach.  Please contact Cynthia.Stalheber@willis.com for more information or to be added to the monthly email notice.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. The fertilizer ordinances passed by our communities goes into effect June 1st. It prohibits the use of lawn fertilizer between June 1st and September 30th. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
