Rosemary R. O’Connor, 75, Vero Beach

Rosemary R. O’Connor, 75, died Jan. 31, 2010, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.

She was born in St. Louis and lived in Vero Beach 11 years, coming from Sarasota and Williamsville, N.Y. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Cornelius J. O’Connor of Vero Beach; sons, Cornelius J. O’Connor Jr. of North Andover, Mass., Daniel J. O’Connor of Duxbury, Mass., and Thomas J. O’Connor of Wayne, Penn.; daughters, Mary E. White of Rye, N.Y., and Anne C. Van Remortel of Alexandria, Va.; brother, Garry Robben of St. Louis; sister, Ann Beidle of Vero Beach; and 12 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store, 1745 14th Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Feb. 6 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. 11-year-old breaks into church, steals laptop on Christmas Day

GIFFORD — An 11-year-old who deputies said broke into a church and stole a laptop on Christmas Day, was detained. Deputies also arrested the boy's mother after saying she failed to report the boy as missing. The Gifford youth told deputies he stole the $700 laptop because "he wanted something to play with," reports show. Deputies said the juvenile was a runaway. An arrest report noted the incident took place at St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church, located just south of St. Peter's Academy. Both facilities have the same address at 4250 38th Avenue, Gifford. SEBASTIAN — Billy Wilson's impact on the community over the years was evident Saturday as family, friends, coaches, school board members and deputies gathered to pay final respects. "He was a man of integrity. He was the pulse, the heartbeat of Sebastian River High School," the school's principal Christopher Cummings said. "He was my mentor.
