Marguerite ‘Peggy’ Kolbe, 95, Vero Beach

Marguerite “Peggy” Kolbe, 95, died Jan. 29, 2010, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

She was born in Charleroi, Pa., and lived in Vero Beach for three years, coming from Portland, Ore. She served in the Navy during World War II as an air traffic controller.

She was a professor of literature at the University of Pittsburgh.

Survivors include her nieces, Mary Beth Lucas, Carol Fritsch, Rossane Schillalies and Norma Wellen; and nephews, David Parks and Richard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Kolbe.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A memorial service will be at a later date.
