Paul Edward Silverwood, Sr., 47, Vero Beach

Paul Edward Silverwood, Sr., 47, of Vero Beach, died Jan. 18, 2010 at the Indian River Medical Center.

Mr. Silverwood was born Aug. 28, 1962 in Port Clinton, Ohio and moved to Vero Beach 6 years ago from his place of birth.

He had work for Carrabba’s Restaurant in Vero Beach for 6 years.

Survivors include his son Paul Silverwood, Jr., of Newark, Ohio; stepsons Forlando Guerra of Norwalk, Ohio, Justin Guerra of Port Clinton, Ohio and Tyrone Guerra of Toledo, Ohio; brother David Silverwood of Toledo, Ohio; sister Alice Harvey of Virginia; and thirty grandchildren.

At the request of the family there will be no services.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. Howle, Zudans win in Vero; Kinchen, McPartlan, Iovino in Sebastian

All results are in for the Vero Beach and Sebastian municipal elections. Voters have returned Harry Howle to the Vero Beach Council and Bob McPartlan and Linda Kinchen to the Sebastian Council. Val Zudans will join Howle on the Vero Council, while Albert Iovino will round out the last of three seats up for grabs on the Sebastian Council.
