IRSA to present Philharmonia of the Nations

VERO BEACH — The Indian River Symphonic Association will present a concert by the Philharmonia of the Nations on February 16, at the Community Church of Vero Beach.  Conductor Justus Frantz will direct performances of Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in D Minor, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D Major.

Mr. Frantz formed the Philharmonia of the Nations in 1995, as a multicultural orchestra and a springboard for highly skilled young musicians from all over the world.  It has performed worldwide, to great acclaim, since its inception.

The piano soloist for this performance will be Jon Nakamatsu, who came to international attention in 1997, when he was awarded the Gold Medal in the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.  Mr. Nakamatsu was the only American pianist to have achieved this distinction since 1981.

Tickets are priced at $40.00 each.  This concert is sold out; however returned tickets might become available.
