PET PARADE BLOG: Happy New Year dog lovers!

Happy New Year to all my Vero News readers. I hope you and all your pets are enjoying 2010.

Is Vero Beach becoming more dog friendly? I see more hotels and restaurants are welcoming our canine friends. Still, many of the public areas such as beaches and parks are off limits.

Speaking of beaches, did you read the article in VB 32963 about the 4 German Shepherds and small brown dog that frightened a couple walking on the beach? These are the types of incidents that make towns like our exclude dogs from public parks and beaches. I don’t know the dogs’ owner… I’m sure he feels his dogs are wonderful pets.

However, it is easy to see how intimidating four big dogs racing toward you could be. Let’s all be responsible pet owners and keep our animals under our control.

If you really love your dogs, you will give them the security of training and confinement to your property.

And need I say, please pick up after your pet.

Happy New Years, wags and woofs,Cissy
