The Salvation Army exceeds Red Kettle Campaign goal with $144,000

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Salvation of IRC exceeded its goal for the 2009 campaign, raising $144,000. The amount is $24,000 over the campaign goal of $120,000.

With 10 days left in the campaign The Salvation Army was sitting at $92,000 but with an incredible increase in donations the week leading up to Christmas The Salvation Army of IRC had its best campaign ever, said John Corapi, of The Salvation Army.

The pocket change from the community made the difference. The generosity of Indian River County came through during a tough economic time to help The Army “Do The Most Good” this holiday season. The Red Kettle Campaign is the major fund-raiser for The Salvation Army and helps to support all the programs for the entire 2010 year.

The Salvation Army is only as successful as its generous donors and community members allow it to be.

“Without the help and support of this community, we would never been able to beat our goal and maintain our progress and service for the upcoming year,” Corapi said. “A huge thank you goes out to our kettle sponsors, Dyer Auto, Champion Home Health, Famous Ate’s, Ocean FM, Velde Ford, Mayflower Society, Gold Coast Landscape Lighting, Vero Beach Christian Business Assoc, Bridgeton Properties and Café MoJo,  along with all the individuals that followed the sponsors lead by making donations to the Red Kettle campaign during the past six weeks.”
