David Newman Radabaugh, Sr., 72, Vero Beach

David Newman Radabaugh, Sr., 72, died Dec. 10, 2009, at his home.He was born in Detroit and grew up in Columbia, Tenn. He lived in the Vero Beach area for 41 years. He attended Vanderbilt University, received his master of arts from Tennessee Tech University and was awarded a graduate fellowship at Cornell University. He was a former educator, teaching at Indian River Community College for 17 years. He was a senior staff member of the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County, working in the field of animal protection for 14 years.Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Joan Ghnouly Carlson; son, David Newman Radabaugh Jr.; daughter, Mary Radabaugh of Stuart; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Radabaugh. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County, Foster Care Program for Pets of Owners in Crisis, P.O. Box 644, Vero Beach, FL 32961.
