Opha I. Gray, 96, last surviving charter member of Glendale Baptist Church

Opha I. Gray, 96, of Vero Beach, died Dec. 6, 2009 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

Mrs. Gray was born April 1, 1913 in Madison County, Tenn., and moved to Vero Beach in 1956 coming from Trenton, Ga.

Prior to her retirement in 1986 she had been a nurse’s aid at the Florida Baptist Retirement Center in Vero Beach. She was the last surviving charter member of Glendale Baptist Church in Vero Beach.

Survivors include her son John L. Gray of Vero Beach; daughters Martha E. Mitchell of Trenton, Ga., and Vera Morris of Vero Beach; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years W. H. Gray, a son Joe Gray and a daughter Rebecca Strange.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Dec. 11, 2009 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home. A life celebration service will be offered 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at the Glendale Baptist Church in Vero Beach.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Group at Glendale Baptist Church, 790 27th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
