Fundraiser at Majestic 11 benefits ELC

WABASSO ISLAND –Omni Financial of Vero Beach and the Majestic 11 Theatre co-sponsored a fund raiser for the Environmental Learning Center (ELC) on October 24. The event featured a raffle and Halloween costume contest followed by a showing of Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” in Disney Digital 3-D.

A check presentation following the event was attended by Chrissy Stephens and Tom Croom of the Omni Financial Charity Committee, ELC Board Chairperson Eileen Connelly and Alishia Colimon, General Manager of the Majestic.

GIFFORD — In the days leading up to Christmas, the jolly Saint Nicholas cleared up his busy schedule of gift giving to make sure students at a youth center received presents on their wish list. Saint Nicholas, better known as Santa Claus, visited youth last Thursday afternoon at Gifford Youth Achievement Center. The man in the traditional red and white outfit with a white beard was GYAC staff member Lebon Nicholas, happily providing each student with a gift. The students sung Christmas carols inside the gymnasium and the youth orchestra performed classic holiday tunes. INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — For families in need, Santa giving presents to children on Christmas Eve means everything. "It's incredible. I have a little one who believes in Santa," said Vero Beach resident Candice Nichole. "I didn't want to tell him Santa wasn't coming." Nichole and her son are one of 24 families in need that received gifts from Santa on Sunday. Those families have about 60 children total, ranging from toddlers to teenagers. GIFFORD — Santa Claus made an early visit to students at a youth center and showered them with gifts they each requested on their Christmas list. St. Nick on Tuesday went to the Gifford Youth Achievement Center and visited youth from kindergarten all the way up to high school. "To see these kids come alive; the thrill you see in their eyes.
