Richard E. “Dick” Nelson, 81, of Hohenwald, Tenn., died Friday, Nov. 27 in Vero Beach. He was born May 29, 1928 in Yakima, Wash., and lived in Short Hills and Livingston, N.J., before moving to Vero Beach in 1965 with his family until 2006 moving to Hohenwald. Before retirement he was a stock broker in New York City and later in Vero Beach. He also operated the Riviera Restaurant in Vero Beach. He belonged to St. Helen Catholic Church and later Holy Cross Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Nelson, of Hohenwald, Tenn.; 3 sons, Rick Nelson of Bald Head Island, N.C.; Dan Nelson and Tom Nelson of Vero Beach; 2 daughters, Megan Nelson of Vero Beach and Courtney Keeton of Hohenwald, Tenn.; 3 brothers, Bob Nelson of Texas, Bill Nelson and Tom Nelson of Denver; 3 sisters, Mary Ann Bogan and Betty Jane Nelson both of Denver, and Pat Shiels of St. Augustine, Fla., and 8 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Celine Nelson. At the request of the family no services are planned other than a private family service to be held at a later date.
