Reception at Vero Beach Hotel & Spa to benefit Save the Chimps

Join members of Save the Chimps board of directors, staff and local ambassadors for a Cocktail Reception and Silent Auction, 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 at the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa’s Cobalt Shoreline Room & oceanfront patio. Your suggested donation of $25 will feed a chimp for a week. All donations will be matched by the Arcus Foundation.

The Florida sanctuary is the world’s largest sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees. The”chimp-city” allows chimpanzees to live in large family groups on 12 individual 3-5 acre islands, where they can socialize and rebuild confidence after decades spent in isolation.

Blaze, "The Island Dog" who was rescued from a spoil island, escaped the day he was adopted and was on the loose for 50 days, is safely back home. Blaze was finally found May 5th, in an under-construction house on Crown Eagle Circle SW. When Indian River County Animal Control received a call that a stray dog had been spotted in the area, Officer Rick Hall responded to the site. Fellsmere is among several Florida towns that will receive an infrastructure award that will go toward restoration and improvement projects following the damage left behind by the 2017 Hurricane Irma, state officials said Friday.
