Hibiscus Festival 2010 underway

VERO BEACH — Milt Thomas, chairman of the annual Hibiscus Festival has announced that the Hibiscus Festival committee has launched its Sponsorship Opportunity Package for the 2010 weekend event.  The event, held in the historic sector of Downtown Vero Beach, will begin on Friday, April 16 with the Miss Hibiscus Pageant and Saturday, April 17 is Festival Day.

First presented in 1953, the historic Hibiscus Festival is an annual celebration of Vero Beach history and community spirit, attended by thousands of adults, children and families from Vero Beach and surrounding communities.  It is also a major fundraiser for Main Street Vero Beach and Vero Heritage, Inc (The Heritage Center).

There are a wide range of activities offered for the public to enjoy, including the Miss Hibiscus Pageant, 5k run, pancake breakfast, day long music and entertainment, children’s activities, antique autos, farmers market and marketplace booths, flowing plant display and sale, fine art display and sale, food and drink, shuffleboard play,  an evening dance party with a return visit from the Beatles Tribute Band, and new this year, the Hibiscus Festival Dessertfest 2010. New features are currently being examined for event expansion.

Numerous sponsor opportunities and naming right possibilities exist.  New committee members are welcome to attend meetings, held the first Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. at the Heritage Center.
