Burglar takes 5 single earrings and 15 pairs worth $600

VERO BEACH — Why a burglar would steal 15 pairs of earrings and snag one earring each from five other pairs worth a total of $600 remains a mystery as the Vero Beach Police Department investigates a residential burglary on the Barrier Island.

The burglary occurred sometime between Oct. 23 and 27 and was reported Thursday, Oct. 29. According to investigators, the burglar broke into a home on Flamevine Lane and took the earrings from a jewelry box in the master bathroom. Nothing else was reported missing from the home.

The burglar removed the bottom screen from the patio’s screen door and presumably entered the home through the opening in the screen and the raised window in the patio door.

Investigators canvassed the neighborhood and learned from one resident that a Hispanic male in his 20s walking through the area with a leaf blower on Thursday.

Whether or not the man has anything to do with the burglary is not known.
