Boating Safety Course date change

Flotilla 58 will be offering its last one day Boating Safety course on Saturday, Nov. 14 instead of Saturday, Nov. 21.  The course will be from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Coast Guard Auxiliary Building at 1400 Seaway Drive in Fort Pierce.

This course is a “must do” for the new boater and an excellent refresher for experienced boaters.  Whether you’re at the helm or “part of the crew”, you will learn valuable information that will enhance your boating experience.  You’ll learn waterway signs and markings, basic navigation, Federal and State regulations, boating in adverse conditions, what to do in an emergency and much, much more.

This Boating Safety Course is State approved to receive your Florida State Boater ID card.  Remember, if you are under 22, you are required to have a Florida Boater card to operate a vessel. Also, check with your insurance company – some give a discount if you complete and pass this course.

The course is free, but there is a materials fee of $36 ($10 for each additional family member if sharing the book.
