VERO BEACH — A Sebastian man won a trip to the county jail after authorities found more than 600 stolen lottery tickets in two vehicles.

The Vero Beach Police Department arrested David Duane Miller, 34, of Mulberry Street, Sebastian, on Monday, Oct. 19. He is accused of burglarizing County Discount Beverage, on 14th Avenue, and stealing a Florida lottery vending box containing approximately 5,000 instant scratch-off tickets ranging in price from $2 to $10.  Investigators with the Vero Beach Police Department collected 693 lotto tickets found in several locations, including a plastic bag stashed in a toolbox in the back of Miller’s truck, on the front passenger side of the vehicle and in the wheel well of his car, according to the arrest report.

The burglary occurred in the early morning hours of Oct. 13 when someone — authorities say Miller — broke the front window with a hammer to gain access to the closed store.

Miller is being held at the county jail on $51,000 and faces charges that include felony burglary of a structure, felony burglary, felony grand theft, felony possession of burglary tools, and two misdemeanor counts of driving with a suspended license with knowledge.

He was arrested on 26th Street in Vero Beach.
