Touch a Truck to benefit Childcare Resources

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Childcare Resources’ second annual Touch A Truck will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at the Indian River County Fairgrounds. Touch A Truck features lots of cool trucks for kids to touch, plus bounce houses, face painting, pony rides, arts & crafts, food, live entertainment and fun for the whole family.

All event proceeds benefit Childcare Resources’ quality early childcare assistance and family support programs for working families in Indian River County.

Admission is $20 for a family up to 6 people, or $5 per person. Children under 3 are free.

Woman hurt after truck flips onto home

SEBASTIAN — An unidentified woman was hurt after she was ejected from a truck that veered off the roadway and flipped onto a residence late Sunday, fire rescue crews said. The truck went into the air and hit the side of the garage, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Jamie Coleman said. The force of the crash caused the woman to be thrown from the truck, through the windshield and through the garage's window. She was found on the garage floor, where authorities said she landed. No one inside the home was injured, Coleman said. Community Development Department closes in-person services

The Community Development Department closed in-person services Monday as county officials implement more health precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Officials plan to add more physical barriers to the front counters inside the building, which already has temperature scanners installed. County employees and those who visit county facilities are already required to wear masks inside. County Administrator Jason Brown was not immediately available to confirm reports that six employees in the Community Development Department tested positive for the virus.
