George Martin Nash, 89, Vero Beach

George Martin Nash, 89, of Vero Beach, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the Indian River Estates Medical Center in Vero Beach. He was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Albuquerque, N.M., and moved to Vero Beach in 1981 from Setauket, Long Island, N.Y.

Prior to his retirement, he had worked at Piper for 18 years as an Aeronautical Engineer. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach and the Knight’s of Columbus. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy as a Navy Frogman.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Joan; three sons, Timothy, Kevin and Jonathan; a daughter, Christine Finley; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 3 – 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20, at St. Helen Catholic Church.
