43rd Ave. at 5th St. to close for 16 days starting Thursday

VERO BEACH — A contractor will close 43rd Avenue at 5th Street for 16 days beginning Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 a.m. The closures will be daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is expected to be reopened Friday, Oct. 30. Drainage, roadway and utility improvements are being installed as part of the bridge project. A detour route will be posted utilizing 58th Avenue.

Officers save man from jumping off bridge in Vero Beach

VERO BEACH — Two Vero Beach police officers saved a man after he tried to jump off a bridge last Friday, Vero Beach police said. Police responded shortly before 2 p.m. June 23 to a call of a man possibly attempting to jump off the Alma Lee Loy Bridge on State Road 656, near Indian River Boulevard, a news release said.
