INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Workforce Solutions hosted the 2009 Indian River County Best Places to Work Awards Ceremony on Thursday Oct. 8 at the Club at Pointe West.  The event was well attended by business and community leaders, human resources professionals and government, including all five of the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners.

Indian River County employers were invited in July to participate in the Best Places to Work program by completing a free survey.  The survey was used to calculate which companies would be chosen for one of eight awards, split equally between companies with 50 or less employees and those with 51 or more employees.  Calculations are weighted based on a company’s turnover, growth, training, promotions, employee benefits, orientation programs, employee involvement in decision making processes, profit sharing, work environment and retirement plans.  Many of this years winners have also been honred in the past.
