Participants needed for Whole Child Project focus group

VERO BEACH — The Junior League of Indian River is seeking local concerned parents, non-profits and businesses concerned with building a community where children thrive, to participate in a Whole Child Project focus group on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Boys & Girls Club of Vero Beach, 683 27th Avenue SW.  The focus group for parents begins at 9 a.m. and the focus group for service providers begins at 10 a.m.

How do you impact the community in which you live?  Each year the Junior League of Indian River researches and identifies unmet needs or gaps in their hometown in order to create Community Impact Projects. The Whole Child Program has been executed successfully in neighboring counties to:

Assist families in identifying the needs of their young children.

Connect families with appropriate local service providers.

Encourage and enable service providers to build collaborative networks.

Enable communities to identify gaps in service and assess their progress.

The important goal of the focus group is to gauge how The Whole Child Project might impact Indian River County.  Local, concerned parents and local service providers are needed for one short hour to answer questions.  Participants will be entered to win door prizes and children over the age of six, accompanied by a participating parent, will receive a free bicycle helmet.

The Junior League of Indian River is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action of trained volunteers.
