Rev. Jack E. Hart, 73, Vero Beach

Rev. Jack E. Hart, 73, of Vero Beach, died Aug. 22, 2009, at Indian River Medical Center. Rev. Hart was born April 20, 1936, in Big Stone Gap, Va., and moved to this area in 1969 from Brooksville.

He was the founding pastor of New Hope Ministries and Christian Academy in Winter Beach and the former New Life Christian Center in Sebastian. He was in involved in several organizations for the homeless and other outreach programs. Survivors are his wife of 25 years, Nancy; two sons, Eddie Hart, of Okeechobee, and Ricky Hart, of Vero Beach; four daughters, Kay Spivey and Sarah Pickles, both of Sebastian, Meghan Heirs, of Vero Beach, and Kelli Benefield, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a half brother, Charles Austin, of Connecticut; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Ministries, 4425 71st Street, Winter Beach, FL 32967.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at New Hope Ministries in Winter Beach. Funeral services will held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the Church.
