Ruth E. Kmita, 92, Vero Beach

Ruth E. Kmita, 92, of Village Green, Vero Beach, died Aug. 15, 2009, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach after a short illness. Mrs. Kmita was born and raised in Saugus, Mass., and moved to Vero Beach in 1981 from Longwood, Fla.

Mrs. Kmita founded the Village Green Kitchen Band and played piano for various nursing homes and functions in the area. She was a member of the theater guild and was active in the Asbury United Methodist Church of Vero Beach. Survivors include her daughters Patricia Kmita, of Vero Beach, and Judith Mullin, of Ocala; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Ethelyn Berry, of Vero Beach, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kmita was predeceased by her husband Chesley Kmita and their son, Michael.

A Memorial Service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church. Interment will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery, Saugus, Mass.

At the family’s request there will be no repose or visitation.
