Mentie Taylor Thomas, 79, of Vero Beach, died July 30, 2009, at Indian River Medical Center. She was born in Beckley, W.Va., and lived in Vero Beach since 1980, coming from Miami.
She retired after 20 years as a secretary in the pathology department of Indian River Medical Center. She later worked for AK Steele and Velde Ford. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Vero Beach. Survivors include her sister, Claudia Massey, of Sylvester, W.Va. She was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta; husband, Robert Normandeau; and second husband, William Thomas.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 at First Presbyterian Church.
