Henry ‘Hap’ Clarence Arnold, 80, Vero Beach

Henry “Hap” Clarence Arnold, 80, of Vero Beach, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at Dixie Oak Manor in Vero Beach. Mr. Arnold was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Greenville, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of Vero Beach.

He was a Sgt. Major in the United States Air Force and a veteran of WW II and the Korean War. Mr. Arnold was a member of the VFW post #3918, American Legion post #39, Military Order of the Cooties and the Air Commanders. Survivors include his wife, Dolores; daughters Linda Wayne, of Arlington, Va., and Debbie Robison, of Sarasota; sons, James Kackelmeir, of Port Charlotte, Danny Kackelmeir, of Bennington, Ind., and John Kackelmeir, of Mt. Holly, N.C.; stepsons Bruce Dyer, of Cleveland, Ohio, Alan Dyer, of Rehoboth, Mass., Stephen Dyer, of Vero Beach, and Gary Dyer of Kingston, R.I., and eighteen grandchildren.

Military Honors will be given at noon, Sunday, Aug. 9, at Memorial Island followed by a memorial gathering at the Vero Beach Veterans.
