Gregory Lynn Palmer, 58, Vero Beach

Gregory Lynn Palmer, 58, of Vero Beach, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. Mr. Palmer was born Feb. 9, 1951, in Beaver County, Pa., and moved to Vero Beach 10 years ago from his place of birth.

He worked as a copy repair man in Vero Beach. Survivors include his daughter, Crystal Palmer, of Sebastian; brother, Byron Palmer, of Economyborough, Pa.; sisters, Paula Alaica, of Aliquippa, Pa., and Norna Kasarda, of North Hills, Calif.

At the request of the family there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach, Florida. Condolences may be sent through www.seawindsfh.com/obit.php

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. "He was well-liked by teammates and was extremely coachable. His coaches and teammates are taking it pretty hard," Sebastian River High School Athletic Director Jessica Upchurch said. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
