VERO BEACH — If you haven’t made it to the 35th Annual Aerial Antics Circus “A Night at the Movies,” time is running out. There is just one more performance left tonight at 7 p.m., which will honor performers who have made this event a huge success for more than three decades.

The circus features approximately 100 children involved in the City of Vero Beach’s recreation programs. Each show features a different group of kids who have trained and rehearsed all summer for the show. The remaining Aerial Antics Circus performance is  Aug. 8 at Saint Edward’s Upper School. Show time each evening is 7 p.m. Admission donations are $5 for adults and $4 for children and seniors. Tickets are available at all Vero Beach recreation facilities, as well as at the door.

The show spans four evenings, and started Aug. 5, and wraps up Saturday with a special tribute to all the former performers. Patty Mattingly, assistant recreation director and one of the co-organizers, said that the Vero Beach Recreation Department is still searching for anyone who may still be in the area who, at one time or another, performed in the city’s circus.

“It’s exciting,” said Mattingly of the anticipation leading up to the show.

All alumni of the Aerial Antics Circus are encouraged to call Mattingly to let her know they will be attending Saturday. Past performers will be recognized in the spotlight.

This year’s circus has a cinematic theme and invokes noted performances such as Cirque du Soleil. The performances combine gymnastics, dance, adagio, and circus aerials with music and choreography set to movie soundtracks.

Performers include the Aerial Antics Summer Campers, the Vero Beach Recreation Department gymnastics students and Performing Groups, Miss Julie’s Dance Arts students, and the Serendipity Dancers.

For more information about the circus, call (772) 567-2144 or (772) 770-3775. To register as a circus alumna/alumnus, call Mattingly at (772) 567-2144.
