Molly Patricia Brent, 84, Vero Beach

Molly Patricia Brent, 84, of Vero Beach, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Brent was born Jan. 18, 1925, in St. Albans, England, and moved to Vero Beach in 1981 from Eatontown, N.J.

She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach, the England Club and the Rose Garden Club. Survivors include her daughter Adrienne Patricia Elam, of Vero Beach; two grandchildren; and three grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband George Joseph Brent.

A private memorial celebration will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA/Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. "He was well-liked by teammates and was extremely coachable. His coaches and teammates are taking it pretty hard," Sebastian River High School Athletic Director Jessica Upchurch said. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
