Storm knocks down power line on A-1-A

ORCHID ISLAND — Electrical storms Sunday afternoon left a live power line dangling about four feet above the road in the 12600 block of Highway A-1-A five miles south of the Sebastian Inlet.Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department personnel are on the scene and have the road blocked off to traffic at this time. Cars are backed up about one mile in the southbound lane and nearly one half mile in the northbound lane. FPL cound not confirm any power outages at this time. Law enforcement officials on the scene expect FPL repair crews within minutes and there may be localized outages while repairs are being made. At 6 p.m. Sunday, it was uncertain how long the road would be closed.
