VERO BEACH — Residents accustomed to spending Wednesday evenings at the Main Library in downtown Vero Beach may either need to go before 5 p.m., pick a different night or make the trek out to the new Brackett Library as of October 1.As part of proposals to slice 22 percent from the County budget to offset reduced property taxes and state revenues, County staff is proposing the three-hour reduction in hours at the Main Library when the Brackett Library opens, as staff will be shuffled to cover the new facility. The Brackett Library is a joint-use library between Indian River State College and Indian River County. The library will be located at 6155 College Lane on the Mueller Campus of IRSC. It will be open to the public in October, 2009 and will be a branch of the Indian River County Library System. The Brackett Library will be a full-service, public facility offering children and youth services, public computers, programming and collections for check-out and will be open later on Wednesday nights to make up for the Main Library closing at 5 p.m.
