Vero Beach Theatre Guild celebrates with Genie Awards Presentation Dinner

VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Theatre Guild celebrated the accomplishments of their actors and volunteers with the Genie Awards Presentation Dinner on June 20 – Vero’s version of Broadway’s Tony Awards. My Fair Lady, under the direction of Tony Della Rocca, was the big winner at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild’s Genie Award Presentation. The musical, clearly as popular with the judges as it was with audiences, received awards in 11 different categories, including Outstanding Production. The Guild also recognized the tireless support of non-acting volunteers with special awards chosen by Guild board members.

Vero Beach Theatre Guild produced five major productions last year: The Cemetery Club, Perfect Wedding, My Fair Lady, Opal is a Diamond and Broadway Showstoppers 3 (Saints and Sinners on Stage) and each production included several winners.

They’re now gearing up for the 2009-10 season (their 52nd by the way) which will include, Second Time Around; Cabaret; Sin, Sex and the CIA; The Sound of Music and It Runs in the Family. Auditions begin in July for Second Time Around.

The Theatre Guild is always looking for new talent both on and off the stage. This year three newcomers to the Guild won awards. Could next year be your big moment in the spotlight?
