Indian River County public schools earn an “A” for 2nd year in a row

COUNTY–The Florida Department of Education has released the 2009 School Grades and Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Designations under No Child Left Behind. In the School District of Indian River County, 20 of 24 schools achieved an “A.”  Those schools are: Beachland Elementary, Citrus Elementary, Fellsmere Elementary, Gifford Middle, Glendale Elementary, Highlands Elementary, Indian River Charter High School, Liberty Magnet School, Osceola Magnet School, Oslo Middle School, Pelican Island Elementary School, Rosewood Magnet School, Sebastian Charter Junior High, Sebastian Elementary School, Sebastian River High School, Sebastian River Middle School, St. Peter’s Academy, Thompson Magnet School, Treasure Coast Elementary, and Vero Beach Elementary.

 

Two schools received a letter grade of “B.” Those schools are: Dodgertown Elementary and Vero Beach High.

 

One school received a letter grade of “C.” That school is Imagine School of South Vero.

 

The School District of Indian River County received a letter grade of “A” for the 2008-2009 school year. This is the second year in a row that the District has earned an “A”. Overall, 96 percent of the schools in the District received A’s and B’s.

 

Superintendent La Cava, said he was extremely proud of the District’s performance overall. “This is the highest percentage of schools ever to achieve “A” and “B” status and we are very excited to have maintained an “A” for the second year in a row,” he said.
