William Joseph Carter, 82 of Barefoot Bay, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay. He was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Rockford, Ill., and was a resident of Barefoot Bay for 20 years coming from Wisconsin and South Florida. Mr. Carter was a retired Chief Petty Officer from the US Navy and was a member of Greater Palm Bay Senior Center.Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Marcella Elizabeth Carter; daughter, Christine Barnett, of Black River Falls, Wis.; son, Joseph William Carter; step-son, Robert C. Shuman, of Scottville, Mich.; step-daughters Terri Manning, of Ludington, Mich., and Dianne Finegan, of Beloit, Wis.; sister, Vivian Lindquist, of Rockford, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.No services are planned at this time.
