Sebastian Lions Club awards scholarships

SEBASTIAN – As one of its many service projects to the community, the Sebastian Lions Club recently awarded two $1,000 scholarships graduating Sebastian River High School seniors Maureen Flanary and Kaitlyn Lee. Other projects of the 50-year old club include: 

Conducting annual eye screening of Sebastian area elementary school students.

Managing the July 4th celebration for the City of Sebastian.

Assisting disabled and needy individuals in Sebastian with medical equipment needs and some financial aid.

Conducting independent living classes for Sebastian area blind and disabled persons.

Provide students at the Wabasso School with a yearly Pizza Party and a financial contribution to the school.

Outside the local area but within Florida, the Sebastian Lions club supports the Florida Lions Camp for handicapped children near Lake Wales, Southeast Guide dogs, Paws for Patriots, the Conklin Center for the Blind and the Florida Lions Eye Bank. Worldwide, the Lions Clubs International Foundation that provides relief to disaster victims worldwide and whose goal is to Control and eliminate causes of blindness worldwide.
